What Velvet will write, what it will never write, and how your own limits sit on top. These rules sit alongside our terms of service.

Four things are never written, at any heat level, under any prompt, on any account. They cannot be unlocked by a setting, a paid tier, or a rephrasing:
Heat is a ceiling, not a target. A story is written to stay inside the level you set, even when a trope would normally push further. New readers start at three, and the explicit levels only unlock when you raise the ceiling deliberately.
On top of the hard limits you set your own, in Content & Boundaries:
Your heat ceiling and taste settings are stored on your own device rather than in your account. Your avoid list is the one exception: stories are written on our servers, so that list has to travel with each generation request for it to be honoured at all. The app states this at the bottom of the boundaries screen, and the privacy policy covers what is stored.
If a prompt can't be written, you get a screen that says which element caused it and offers ways to continue — usually the same trope without the offending phrase, or a gentler style.
We refuse rather than quietly write something softer, because silently ignoring part of a prompt is a worse experience than being told.
Characters you submit for publishing are visible to other writers once approved, and must follow the same rules: no real people, no minors, nothing designed to route around the hard limits. Submissions are screened automatically and reviewed before they go live.
We remove characters that break these rules and may restrict publishing for accounts that do so repeatedly.
If the engine wrote something it shouldn't have, tell us at info@clutchdeveloper.com. Include the story title and roughly where in the chapter it happened. Every report produces either a fix or an explanation.
If your account is restricted and you think it's wrong, write to info@clutchdeveloper.com. A person who was not involved in the original decision reviews it, and we aim to respond within five working days.
